Impermanence & Loss

Scratching through the walls

Scratching through the walls
With ivory thoughts
And jagged silences,
Your image shatters on the water,
Rippling away in growing, fading rings
And the petals within me fold and crumple.
Your water dried up
And the land where we stood
Is dusty and grey.
My footprints are walking away
To the oasis on the other side of the sky,
On the other side of the stars,
Where the International Space Station
Guides my pulsing satellites
And it is glorious here.
I’ve been doused in golden dreams and tulips,
My thirst so satiated that I can finally understand the constellations
Prickling at my core.
