The space you inhabit is a movement
The space you inhabit is a movement Of heat and light and sound, A breathing work of art. I am enthralled, Captivated by the midnight in your hair, And the words unfurling around us Like falling butterflies; A rain that fills up all the silence in the cracks. The days pour through my eyes Grasping every second, Each one suspended within the galaxy of my Time, Which I drink up, imbued with the colour of you. Each one burns a new path on my skin And when I trace the map of your presence All these worlds unfold before me, Dripping with white clouds and sea salt encrusted lips. I’ve left all my possessions at the shore Because your skin has woven itself into the fabric of my sails And you smell like freedom After a storm.
(Instagram version of the final stanza, 20 May 2017: ”…And you smell like earth and freedom / After a storm.”)
